What Is Glutathione?
Glutathione is a small molecule made of three amino acids. The body makes its own, and it is also made for use in cosmetics. On ingredient lists it appears as Glutathione or L-Glutathione.
What It Does in Skin and Hair Care
In a soap, glutathione is one of the ingredients of a brightening cleansing bar, used for skin that looks fresher and more radiant.
A soap is rinsed off, so it works as part of a daily routine with moisturising and sun care rather than on its own.
How to Use Products With It
- Lather the soap with water, massage it over damp skin and rinse well.
- Use once or twice a day.
- Moisturise after washing, and protect your skin from the sun during the day.
Tips and Cautions
- A soap with glutathione is a cosmetic for washing. It is not the same as the tablets or injections sold elsewhere, and we never recommend those.
- Patch test first: put a little on the inside of your arm for a day or two before using it on your face or body.
- If your skin stays red, itchy or sore, stop using the product and see a doctor.
Questions
- Is a glutathione soap safe for daily use?
- Our glutathione soaps are made for daily washing. If your skin feels dry, moisturise after every wash; if it feels irritated, stop and see a doctor.
- Will a glutathione soap change my skin colour?
- No soap changes your natural skin colour. A brightening soap is for a fresher, more radiant look as part of a steady routine.
This page describes how glutathione is used in cosmetics. It is not medical advice. For a skin or scalp problem that is painful, spreading or does not settle, please see a doctor.
