What Is Aloe vera?
Aloe vera is a succulent plant with thick leaves full of a clear gel. In Pakistan many people grow it at home, where it is also called kanwar gandal.
In cosmetics it appears as Aloe Vera, Aloevera, or Aloe Barbadensis.
What It Does in Skin and Hair Care
Aloe vera is used for its soothing, cooling feel and to help skin feel soft. You will find it in face washes, soaps and moisturisers.
How to Use Products With It
- Use aloe vera products as the label says.
- For a cooling feel in summer, keep your moisturiser in a cool place (not the freezer).
Tips and Cautions
- Fresh aloe gel from a plant can bother some people. Products are a more reliable choice.
- Patch test first: put a little on the inside of your arm for a day or two before using it on your face or body.
- If your skin stays red, itchy or sore, stop using the product and see a doctor.
